Coney Island Film Festival gets underway
The 16th annual Coney Island Film Festival held its opening night Friday.
The festival began in the Coney Island Museum with the New York premiere of "Flatbush Luck," which was shot in Brooklyn. The weekend lineup of films includes shorts, features, documentaries, animation and the popular horror shorts program Saturday night.
Keeping with the Coney Island theme, the festival wraps Sunday with a block of films all about the seaside neighborhood.
Festival organizer Rob Leddy says he hopes to highlight Coney Island's history and creative future.
A closing awards ceremony will be held Sunday night down the street from the museum at the Eldorado Auto Skooter arcade.
