Bed-Stuy residents, police join forces on 2nd annual Community Day
Police officers and Bedford-Stuyvesant residents are coming together for the second annual Community Day.
The event, which features a special basketball tournament, honors and remembers detectives Wenjian Liu and detective Rafael Ramos who were fatally shot inside their patrol car in December of 2014.
All of the teams participating in the tournament represent an officer killed in the line of duty. The tournament will continue throughout the afternoon with games, music and food.
The police district, alongside the families of those killed in the line of duty, have joined forces with the community to bring something positive out of a terrible tragedy.
