Bay Ridge street renamed for Ragamuffin Parade
A Bay Ridge street was renamed Saturday in honor of a children's parade with a 50-year tradition.
Local officials were on hand to unveil the changing of 74th Street and 3rd Avenue to Ragamuffin Way in honor of the Ragamuffin Parade.
"Tradition is important and the children that are here today are experiencing something that children 50 years ago experienced," said Rep. Dan Donovan of the 11th District.
The Ragamuffin Parade, which started in 1966, is the only parade in New York City that focuses on children.
