Mayor de Blasio visits Canarsie school to talk education
Mayor Bill de Blasio made a special visit to a Canarsie school Thursday night to take part in a town hall discussion on the city's education system.
The discussion was a chance for the mayor to highlight the major education reforms he laid out last year, but also an opportunity for the community to hear from him on issues weighing on their minds.
The conversation covered a wide range of topics, including after-school programs and mentorship opportunities for retired professionals.
Other topics discussed outside of education were the lingering effects of Superstorm Sandy and the rising cost of living in the city.
