Jewish community members distribute food to less fortunate for Rosh Hashanah
Community members in Coney Island want to ensure that the less fortunate in their community will have a chance to celebrate Rosh Hashanah.
Rosh Hashanah is considered the birthday of the world for the Jewish community, and it begins the period known as the 10 Days of Repentance, which ends on Yom Kippur, the holiest day of the Jewish year.
The Jewish community and Met Councils are teaming up to ensure those in need will have what they need for the holiday.
Everything from apples and honey, which are holiday staples, to chicken, gefilte fish, eggs and fresh produce were distributed to a long line of people in need.
