NYPD: Alleged clown threats deemed harmless
The NYPD is assuring residents not to fear alleged threats from creepy clowns.
Deputy Commissioner John Miller says the NYPD has assessed the alleged clown threats against the city on social media and has deemed them harmless.
However, he says they will continue to track any threats.
Since August, sightings of creepy clowns have been reported nationwide, including on Long Island which prompted two school districts to beef up security.
