Greenpoint tenants return home after 3 years
Residents of 300 Nassau Ave. in Greenpoint finally moved back into their rent-stabilized homes Wednesday after being forced out about three years ago.
Tenants claim they lived in unlivable conditions and that their landlords, Joel and Aaron Israel, cut off their water, heat and electricity. They say the landlords also intentionally demolished apartments.
The court took control of the building and gave it to a city-appointed administrator to oversee. That administrator had the building repaired using city loans.
The Israel brothers still face criminal charges. News 12 reached out to their attorney for comment, but has not yet heard back.
