Brooklyn College professor's debate tweet goes viral
A tweet made by a Brooklyn College professor during Sunday night's presidential debate has gone viral.
Moustafa Bayoumi says that as a man of Muslim faith, he was offended by a remark from Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump, who called on Muslims to report hateful activity.
The professor took to Twitter and sarcastically heeded Trump's call to action by tweeting, "I'm a Muslim, and I would like to report a crazy man threatening a woman on a stage in Missouri."
"I wanted to make a comment that I think is semi-serious," Bayoumi says. "It is a serious comment about his campaign, but at the same time to do it with humor."
It soon became retweeted more than any other during the debate. By Monday evening, it was retweeted more than 85,000 times.
