Cyclist critically hurt in collision with MTA bus
A cyclist was hospitalized in critical condition Wednesday after an accident with an MTA bus near Broadway and Marcy avenues.
An MTA spokesperson says the cyclist struck a car door that opened unexpectedly in his path and was flung into the bus.
A witness says the rider wound up under the right side of the bus, and the bus had to shift into reverse to free him.
Police officials say the man was rushed to Bellevue Hospital around 3:30 p.m.
MTA and union officials all declined to comment, but the MTA spokesperson confirmed that a B46 bus traveling northbound was involved in the accident.
Witnesses are labeling the layout of the street as part of the problem.
Police say the driver remained at the scene.
