Best of Brooklyn: Political pumpkins

A Brooklyn Heights-based artist has carved out a reputation for turning pumpkins into political faces.

Hugh McMahon, a professional pumpkin carver, says he's been in business since the 1970s.

He's covered decades of political campaigns with his work, but none as polarizing as this year's, he says. This year, Donald Trump pumpkins are in high demand.

His Jack-o'-lanterns take two to three hours each to make, he says, and also often feature celebrities like Bette Midler, Mariah Carey and Heidi Klum.

For people who carve their own pumpkins, McMahon recommends spraying them with lemon juice afterward to preserve them longer.
