Dumbo startup wins $500K in competition
A Dumbo-based startup won $500,000 in prize money to further develop the business.
Brooklyn-born entrepreneur Su Sanni's company called We Did It won the money in an annual competition in Buffalo that stems from Gov. Andrew Cuomo's Buffalo Billion Initiative.
Thousands of applicants are narrowed down to just eight winners nationwide. The whole process takes about six months.
Sanni says the money will be used "to expand our team and expand the product and technology we have."
We Did It helps nonprofit organizations raise money online through donor research and giving them a platform on which they can easily create campaigns and more. Sanni says the prize winnings will help build a better platform to help nonprofits.
