A Brooklyn-born writer and director uses homegrown talent for a web series set in Brownsville called "The Ave." 

Bobby Ashley, 23, was born and raised in Brownsville and says one of the goals of the web series is to portray the neighborhood in a different light. He says it's important for others to see the creativity that comes out of Brownsville.

The web series follows Nate Grams, a character born and raised in Brownsville who is running a scamming business. Ashley says he films a lot of scenes with actors outside his home in Marcus Garvey Village.
