Residents: Strong winds caused metal construction material to blow off Brooklyn Heights Library roof
Residents say that the strong winds in the area caused large metal shards to blow off the roof of the Brooklyn Heights Library.
They say the shards came from an unsecure construction area atop the library.
A News 12 viewer submitted photos of the 9-foot shards apparently sitting unsecured on the library's roof before the strong windy weather.
Photos from Sunday seem to show the shards picked up by the intense gusts and carried onto the street and sidewalks.
The metal shards have since been cleared from the area, but one resident says it posed a public safety hazard that was unacceptable and preventable.
