Grand Street BID holds holiday window display contest

A total of 13 shops along Grand Street in Williamsburg are competing for the best holiday window display.

The event was organized by the Grand Street Business Improvement District, and hosted by Pie Smith, a pizzeria that opened in the area seven months ago.

"We thought it would be a nice chance for us to be a part of the community and get to know the area a little bit more," said owner Carlo Alaimo.

The Grand Street BID hopes the event will generate street traffic and sales to boost the local economy.

Each of the designs for the windows came from local high school students and artists.
