'Krampus Krawl' provides darker alternative to SantaCon
While thousands gathered in Manhattan to spread Christmas cheer during the annual SantaCon bar crawl, Brooklyn residents spent the day embracing their inner-seasonal demons in Coney Island.
Participants in the "Krampus Krawl" paid $10 for specials at certain bars around Coney Island. They included the Coney Island Brewing Company, the Freak Bar, the Steeplechase Beer Garden and the Red Doors Bar and Grill.
Krampus is a mythical horned creature - described as half-goat, half-demon - who during the holiday season punishes children who have misbehaved.
Participants told News 12 Brooklyn that they hope the unique bar crawl becomes an annual tradition. It was organized by the nonprofit Coney Island USA.
