A group of good Samaritans helped out hundreds of Red Hook tenants who were unable to cook Christmas dinners due to a gas outage.
For weeks, the NYCHA tenants have been without gas, and there is no sign when they will get it back.
The group of Samaritans went go door-to-door Saturday to deliver the tenants Christmas dinners.
NYCHA told News 12 in a statement that when a gas leak is detected, service has to be be shut off for safety reasons. NYCHA said it it understood the impact the lack of gas is having on the residents, but the work could not be rushed because it could put residents at risk.
The tenants say they hope their gas is restored soon, but it warms their hearts that strangers would deliver meals to them.
