New year, new wages: Minimum wage to increase Jan. 1

With the new year comes some big changes for the minimum wage in New York City.

Starting Jan. 1, the minimum wage will be increased to $11 an hour. Across the rest of New York State, the minimum wage will increase to $9.70.

Gov. Andrew Cuomo has set up a hotline for employees who say their employers are not complying with the increase.

By 2019, the minimum wage will go up to $15 an hour.
