Family, friends of hit-and-run victim rally for justice

The family of a woman killed by a hit-and-run driver in Canarsie rallied for justice Sunday.

Family and friends of 39-year-old Evedette Sanchez met to pray and to call for justice following her tragic death.

As News 12 reported, Sanchez was walking across Louisiana Avenue Wednesday night when she was struck by an SUV.

Police are now reporting that the vehicle is a green Chevrolet Suburban with oversized rims.

The mother of three was rushed to Brookdale Hospital where she was pronounced dead.

No arrests have been made.

The group "Advocates without Borders" is offering a $1,000 reward to anyone who comes forward with information that will lead to the arrest of the responsible driver.

Anyone with information is asked to call police.
