Police search for drivers in 2 fatal hit-and-runs

Police are searching for the drivers wanted in connection with two separate, fatal hit-and-run collisions in the borough.

The first incident occurred Dec. 28 on Flatlands and Louisiana avenues. Police say 28-year-old Evedette Sanchez was struck as she was in the crosswalk. She was taken to Brookdale Hospital where she was pronounced dead.

In that case, authorities are seeking the driver of a green Chevrolet Suburban believed to have oversized rims.

The second incident happened Jan. 1 at Conduit Boulevard and Crescent Street in East New York. Officials say a 53-year-old man was trying to cross the street when he was struck by a 2007 black Lexus sedan. They say the driver then struck a guardrail before fleeing the scene on foot. Officials believe that second driver is a man in his 20s.

The group Advocates without Borders is offering a $1,000 reward to anyone who comes forward with information that will lead to the arrest of the responsible driver.

Police believe that both incidents are not connected.

Anyone with information on either of the incidents is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS.
