P.S. 307 cheerleaders headed to nationals

The Diamonds cheerleading team of P.S. 307 is heading to the national competition next month.

"It takes pressure to make a diamond," says one of the girls. "So that's what we are doing. We are applying pressure, and we make a Diamond."

Last month, the team won first place at the Universal Cheerleaders Association's regional competition.

Teammates say they are both surprised and excited for the chance to compete on a national level. And their excitement carried over into a fundraiser to help pay for the trip, which has drummed up thousands of dollars so far.

The girls on the team range from 8 to 14 years old.

The nationals are on Feb. 11 and 12 in Orlando, Florida.
