MulchFest Christmas tree removal gets underway

MulchFest, the city's eco-friendly way of disposing of Christmas trees, got underway Thursday at McCarren Park.

This weekend from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m., Brooklyn residents can take part in MulchFest at one of nine locations around the borough.

Each participant will receive a tote bag, courtesy of the Parks Department.

Trees can also be left curbside until Jan. 14 for removal by the Department of Sanitation.
