Cab driver accused of raping female passenger in Brooklyn

A Brooklyn cab driver is accused of sexually assaulting his female passenger after robbing her at knifepoint, according to police.

The incident happened Saturday around 3 a.m. in Sunset Park.

The cab driver picked the 29-year-old woman up from a bar in Coney Island and began driving her home.

Police say once the cab reached the woman's home, the driver pulled out a knife and demanded money.

The woman handed money over, but police say the cab driver climbed into the back seat of the car and raped her before leaving the scene.

Police say the woman reported the incident to police at the 68th Precinct just a short time after.

She was taken to the hospital where she was treated and released.

The driver is described as being in his late 20s and was last seen driving a red minivan.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS.
