Drill held to help residents prepare for disasters

A disaster drill was held in Cadman Plaza Thursday to help residents prepare for the worst.

The event was hosted by the New York City Community Emergency Response Teams, with the help of several volunteers.

The drill helped educate residents on different types of disasters, including fires and rescuing people.

"I think it's a very important program because it enables New Yorkers and emergency response team members to know a lot more about their city and to learn about how to keep the city and their neighborhoods and communities safe," says Robert Cohen, of NYC Emergency Management.

The volunteers are also trained to support the efforts of New York City's first responders during emergencies
