Missing man with dementia found after leaving hospital unnoticed

The family of an 80-year-old man with dementia is demanding action after their loved one was able to walk out of a hospital unnoticed on Thursday.

Washab Adesina's daughter Busola Adesina says she is furious that her father was able to leave Kings County Hospital despite his condition.

She says she first learned he was missing around 9 p.m. Thursday, when the hospital called her and asked if her father was home. Adesina then filed a missing person's report. Detectives later told her that her father had been seen on surveillance video leaving the hospital around 7 p.m.

Washab Adesina was found a day later, laying in the cold street without any shoes on. He was taken to Kingsbrook Medical Center.

The family wants to know why the nurses and doctors at Kings County Hospital apparently lost track of a patient known to have dementia.

A spokesperson for Kings County Hospital told News 12 they have no comment.
