Big Brothers Big Sisters honors Brooklyn children

Some Brooklyn residents were recognized Tuesday for their roles in mentoring young people.

The organization Big Brother Big Sisters honored the "littles" and their mentors at the Lefrak Center in Prospect Park.

Tyrel and his "big," Harold, and Dehaven and her "big," Laura, were presented with a plaque during the ceremony.

The two boys were honored for their strides in school, and the girls were recognized for their love of learning.

Big Brothers Big Sisters of NYC serves more than 5,200 young people every year through its mentoring program.
