Certain BK roads still in rough shape despite promising report
Although a new report says Brooklyn streets are in the best shape of all five New York City boroughs, streets in Seagate and Coney Island are still in need of repairs.
The report by the city's Independent Budget Office analyzed Department of Transportation street condition assessments from 2014 through 2015 across all five boroughs.
Despite Brooklyn scoring good ratings overall with neighborhoods like Fort Greene, Starrett City and Williamsburg standing on top city-wide, streets in Seagate and Coney Island are listed in poor quality.
Residents say they are dealing with cave-ins, potholes and cracks. Many say those conditions date back to Superstorm Sandy.
A DOT spokesperson says residents in Seagate and Coney Island can expect repairs within the year.
