Fire, utility crews respond to manhole fire in Brownsville

FDNY crews and utility workers were on the scene of a manhole fire in Brownsville Friday morning.



The incident occurred near P.S. 156, where administrators advised parents to pick up their students as a precaution.



Some of the students reported smelling smoke and seeing the lights inside the building flicker.



There were no injuries.



It was not immediately clear how the fire started.



News 12 Brooklyn has reached out to the city's Department of Education for a statement.
