Boy Scouts pack Coney Island for annual Klondike Derby

Coney Island was packed Saturday afternoon with Boy Scouts for the annual Klondike Derby.

Scouts were able to test out sleds they and their fellow scouts had been working on for weeks.

Boy Scouts Brooklyn District Chairman Robby Riess says events like Saturday's are vital for children, especially in today's technology obsessed age.

The day's activities tested scouts' strength as well as their ability to work as a team.

The derby was just one of many events the Boy Scouts have throughout the year. Their emergency preparedness event will be held in April.
