Canarsie vigil calls for end to local violence
Community members gathered Monday night to remember a 22-year-old man gunned down in a double-shooting in Canarsie a day earlier.
At a candlelight vigil near the scene of the crime, the 69th Precinct Clergy Council called for an end to violence, guns and gang activity in the neighborhood.
Police say they found Darren Harrison with a gunshot wound to the head on East 84th Street around 5 p.m. Sunday. A second male victim, 19 years old, remains in stable condition after being shot in the stomach.
No arrests have been made.
