Group works to make Sunset Park waterfront more accessible

One group is working to make the Sunset Park waterfront more accessible to nearby residents.

The group Uprose is intent on connecting area homes and warehouses where people work.

The group says in doing so, it would give people living in residential Sunset Park better access to industry city and the waterfront.

The group is focusing on three corridors: 43rd, 50th and 58th streets. It is re-imagining their designs to promote mobility from one area of the neighborhood to the next.

The group held a community workshop with the New York City Department of Transportation last week.

The DOT is set to take the feedback and come up with a proposal at the end of spring.
