Former DA’s widow joins suit drive for ex-offenders

The widow of Brooklyn's former district attorney is supporting a suit drive for former Rikers Island inmates.

Lu-Shawn Thompson, whose husband died late last year, says she donated 20 of his suits to the Suited for Success program and the nonprofit group 100 Suits for 100 Men, which helps ex-offenders find jobs.

"The late and great Ken Thompson would be happy to know," she said.

The suits will go to people recently released from the city's jail to help them dress sharp as they seek post-release job opportunities.

Also taking part in the suit drive are current District Attorney Eric Gonzalez, the Metropolitan Black Bar Association and other groups.

"We all get to where we are because of the help of someone else," says Kim Parker, of the bar association. "We all deserve a second chance."
