Lawyer seeks delay of child-stabbing suspect's trial

The defense lawyer for the man accused of stabbing two children in an East New York NYCHA elevator in 2014 asked a judge for more time before setting a trial date Friday.

Daniel St. Hubert allegedly stabbed 7-year-old Mikayla Capers and 6-year-old PJ Avitto at the Boulevard Houses. PJ died from his injuries.

Both children's families attended the court appearance.

"It's been three years almost, and I'm really tired," says Erica McClinton, PJ's mother. "All I can do is put it in God's hands."

St. Hubert is due back in court March 24.
