Teen ID'd in fatal police-involved shooting

An 18-year-old boy who was shot and killed after pointing a fake gun at police in Brooklyn has been identified.

Sergio Reyes, 18, of Brooklyn, was shot and killed by officers Sunday after police responded to the Garden Deli on Starr Street for an armed robbery in progress.

Upon arrival, officers say they witnessed Reyes walking down the street with a gun in his hand and ordered him to drop the weapon.

However, police say Reyes ignored police commands and raised the gun toward officers. He was shot multiple times and later pronounced dead at Woodhull Hospital.

Police say they recovered an imitation pistol at the scene and are still investigating what happened.

Surveillance video of Reyes robbing a deli clerk with the fake gun just moments before he was fatally shot by police has been released by officials.

The suspect's family says he was one of six brothers, a good student and never had any problems. He was set to graduate high school in June.
