Donations pour into Jewish, pro-immigrant soup kitchen

A Jewish soup kitchen in Borough Park that made a visible show of support for a Yemeni-owned deli next door has since seen an uptick in donations.

Last week, during the Day Without Immigrants protests, workers from the Masbia Soup Kitchen taped Stars of David and hearts on the door of the deli while it was closed to observe the protest.

The soup kitchen says its workers are standing in solidarity with immigrant workers and signed the postings "Your Jewish Friends."

Since then, hundreds of new donors -- from around the world -- have given food to help feed the 600 people who rely on the soup kitchen every week.
