Park Slope gym offers self-defense classes for women
Class One Gym in Park Slope offers twice-monthly self-defense classes for women because two teachers there say the females in their lives feel threatened in the current social climate.
The classes aim to teach women and girls how to defend themselves from physical violence and muggers.
One student, Zoey Klein, says she's already used her new skills to stop a would-be bag snatcher in his tracks.
"I didn't know how to react, but then it just came right away," she says. "I got that punch in and got my backpack back."
Proceeds from the class will be sent to the Rape, Abuse and Incest National Network to help survivors and prevent sexual assault.
