NYCHA residents offered free tax prep service

The New York Housing Authority is teaming up with local groups to double their free tax prep centers.

NYCHA residents who make less than $54,000 a year can head to one of 22 spots across the city and have an IRS certified tax preparer take care of both their federal and state filing for free.

Officials say it usually takes about half an hour and New Yorkers received over $2 million in tax returns from the program last year.
