Montague Street water main breaks right before rush hour

Crews are continuing repair work on a massive water main break that shut down dozens of business and left many without water for hours Thursday in Brooklyn Heights.

For a while, the MTA rerouted R trains over the Manhattan Bridge to bypass the Montague Street trouble. Service has since returned to normal.

At one point, nearly 30 businesses in the area were without water. The Department of Environmental Protection says water is now working in all of the affected buildings.

But late Friday, several businesses remained closed because power had not yet been restored.
