Students celebrate Purim with Holocaust survivors

Students at the Hannah Senesh Community Day School celebrated the Jewish holiday of Purim with Holocaust survivors this year.

Purim is the celebration of perseverance amongst the Jewish people.

The eighth-graders are learning about the Holocaust, and school officials say Purim is the perfect time for students to connect with survivors.

The event was organized by Selfhelp Community Services, a nonprofit group that helps senior Holocaust survivors with housing and health care.

Purim starts Saturday evening.
