BK women observe 'A Day Without a Woman'

Several Brooklyn women observed International Women's Day by partaking in "A Day Without a Woman."

Observers stayed home from work, only shopped at businesses owned by women and wore the color red.

News 12 is told a juice shop owned by women in Bed-Stuy handed out beverages to those who took off from work, and a Paperie in Park Slope provided postcards to mail to elected officials, encouraging their support of more women's issues.

Organizers tell News 12 the goal of the event is to highlight and celebrate the value women add to our socio-economic system.
