Veterans suit up for job interviews
With thousands of Iraq War veterans returning home and looking for jobs, Goodwill organizations across the city are trying to ease their transition back into the workforce. Volunteers with the Goodwill Industries of Greater New York are providing free suits and other professional attire worth up to $75. Staff members at the Goodwill Store and Donation Center on Livingston Street say the giveaway began this past Friday, and that dozens of veterans have taken advantage of the program. "When you come back, you're older," one former soldier said. "You lose contact with the real world." Some veterans say their new clothes will give them the confidence needed to interview for open positions.
