About 100 people gathered today at Grand Army Plaza to protest what the call "discriminatory policies" by the NYPD.
The protesters rallied against policies including the department's stop-and-frisk policy.
At the protest was Councilman Jumaane Williams, who himself was subject to a highly publicized stop-and-frisk at the West Indian Parade last year.
Deputy Police Commissioner Paul Browne say that the police stops are part of the reason there have been far fewer murders and shooting in the past eight years.
Councilman Williams hopes that Mayor Bloomberg will acknowledge the problem with NYPD policies in his upcoming State of the City speech next week.
