Police have arrested a teenage girl in connection with a fatal hit-and-run in Sheepshead Bay last night.
Officials say at around 8:25 p.m., 18-year-old Kathryn Foris, of Queens, ran a red light at Avenue V and Gerritsen Avenue. They say she struck and killed 49-year-old Ju Xiang Chen, a Chinese food deliveryman who was riding a scooter.
According to witnesses, Foris sped off while Chen was still on the hood of her car and continued driving for at least half a block.
Chen was taken to the New York Community Hospital of Brooklyn, where he was pronounced dead. Foris has been charged with leaving the scene of an accident that resulted in death.
In the wake of the accident, police have begun a crackdown on speeders and reckless drivers in the area this morning.
