Belt Parkway drivers flattened by pothole problems

Drivers on the Belt Parkway were snagged in a massive traffic jam this morning when a pothole stalled several cars on the side of the road.
Officials say the pothole appeared overnight in the westbound lanes by the Knapp Street exit. At least a dozen vehicles were pulled over to the shoulder due to flat tires or broken rims.
"Here I go, I hit another pothole on the Belt Parkway," said driver Robert White.
Tow truck driver Jonathan Hernandez, who was on the scene this morning, says he has been discussing the situation with the Department of Transportation. So far, it remains unknown when the pothole will be fixed.
