DOT steps up traffic changes to ease 4th Avenue congestion
A large stretch of Fourth Avenue is now off limits to parked and standing vehicles during the morning rush in an effort to ease congestion.
The Department of Transportation (DOT) created a no standing zone in the northbound parking lane between 15th and 39th streets. The new regulations are now in effect from 7 a.m. until 10 a.m. weekdays.
Officials say the change was made in close collaboration with local residents, businesses and politicians. It is also part of a larger initiative to improve what is one of the busiest streets in the borough, and also one of the most deadly.
