Students protest against educational organization StudentsFirstNY
Brooklyn students were out in full force today, protesting the policies of the educational organization StudentsFirstNY.
The students, along with Make the Road New York, were protesting StudentsFirstNY's support of charter schools. The students also say the educational organization has policies that do not support immigrants, such as standardized tests that are given in English.
Students were also angry that Chip Rogers, a visible anti-immigrant figure, was honored as performer of the year by StudentsFirstNY.
StudentsFirstNY told News 12 Brooklyn that Make the Road New York is letting itself be used by the teachers' union to make bogus and hypocritical attacks in an effort to avoid a conversation on how to improve public education.
