Officials: Off-duty NYPD officer from BK shot in NJ

Police are searching for the suspect who allegedly gunned down an off-duty NYPD officer in Manalapan.

Officials say they are searching for the alleged gunman, 35-year-old Robert Dunbar, a Staten Island resident. Officials say the shooting occurred inside a home on Taylors Mills Road at around 11:30 p.m. Friday night.

The Monmouth County Prosecutor's Office says Dunbar went to his estranged wife's home and found her there with the officer. An argument ensued and gunshots were fired.

Officials say the officer was treated at a local hospital and has already been released. Dunbar is charged with attempted murder, aggravated assault and use of a weapon for an unlawful purpose.
