Decision to remove Ditmas Park mural sparks outrage
Neighbors in Ditmas Park say they're upset over a landlord's decision to remove a popular mural painted on the side of a supermarket.
The mural, painted on a wall adjacent to Steve's C-Town Supermarket, was designed by various community groups after Sept. 11 to be a symbol of peace and hope for the neighborhood. Residents say they were shocked to find part of the mural already gone as construction crews work on the supermarket, and some fear the whole mural may be gone very soon.
The supermarket's manager says the landlord just wanted to give a new look to the store and says there's a possibility another mural can be painted on the wall sometime soon.
