Police: Man arrested in NYC burglary spree
A man from East New York has been arrested today after police say he went on a burglary spree through Midtown Manhattan.
Officials say Robert Jones got into six different apartments using a window by the fire escape. According to police, in each burglary, Jones got away with electronics, jewelry or cash.
Police Commissioner Raymond Kelly says the fact that Jones was on crutches helped police catch him.
"They went to the neighborhood, spotted individuals using crutches, and were able to get a fix on this person," Kelly says. "Turned out he was indeed a career burglar."
Kelly adds that Jones was using one of the computers he allegedly stole when police entered his home.
