City cracks down on household trash in street bins

The city is cracking down on people who break the law by dumping household trash into street bins.

The Department of Sanitation says that it issued nearly 200 more tickets in Brooklyn last year than in 2010.

There were close to 1,200 more $100 tickets handed out across the five boroughs. The department says the crackdown is the result of more complaints from residents and elected officials.
