T-shirt business jumps on Big Blue bandwagon
The New York Giants won't face the San Francisco 49ers until tomorrow, but a quick-thinking business owner in Sunset Park is already selling winning Giants T-shirts.
Phil Dipietro, the co-owner of Absco Printing, has been making T-shirts for three decades and says he doesn't think his NFC championship merchandise will jinx Big Blue. Still, it's a gamble he's willing to make.
"We get paid for doing it and they could possibly lose, [but] we hope not," he says.
At Absco Printing, machines have been churning out thousands of winning shirts with the hopes of the Giants pulling through. If that doesn't happen, all of the shirts get destroyed.
The owner of Absco is a big Giants fan and he says he hopes Big Blue beats the 49ers tomorrow, but he is also licensed to print shirts for two others teams in the playoffs if they win.
